Why is it important?
Every year we see shocking statistics from the Health and Safety Executive for the number of days lost through industrial injury and the worrying increase in the number of deaths and serious injuries, particularly where this concerns the use of work equipment.
Our safety advisers often find that managers are confused about whether operators of work equipment need to have ‘Certificates of Competence’ for every item of equipment they use; they often do not understand the primary requirements of the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations –
Regulation 9 Training
- Every employer shall ensure that all persons who use work equipment have received adequate training for purposes of health and safety, including training in the methods which may be adopted when using the work equipment, any risks which such use may entail and precautions to be taken.
- Every employer shall ensure that any of his employees who supervises or manages the use of work equipment has received adequate training for purposes of health and safety, including training in the methods which may be adopted when using the work equipment, any risks which such use may entail and precautions to be taken.
At Britrisk we take training very seriously, we are Quality Assured Training Providers which means that you can use our training courses as evidence towards your staff obtaining their Work Based Diplomas, that is what we call real value for money!
The Britrisk Safety training team are qualified industry experts who will come to you and carry out training to national standards in your working environment, on your equipment, with the instruction that is directly related to the work being undertaken by your staff.
“Competence is defined as that combination of knowledge, skill and experience that enables a person to carry out a task safely and efficiently”
The Britrisk Safety Training Team offer a range of short courses for trained staff to maintain their levels of competence to the high standards required by law.
