Don’t fake health & safety documents

Flooks Scaffolding in Bristol has just been fined a total of £3,000 for faking it’s Health and Safety method statement following the death of an employee who fell whilst dismantling a temporary storage structure at it’s yard.

Health and Safety Inspector, Sue Adsett, and a police officer visited the site after the incident in Kingswood, Bristol to view the method statement for the work carried out. When viewing the health and safety document on the office computer, it was noticed it had been created the day after the incident took place.

Trying to cover your back after the event is just asking for trouble and taking these sorts of risks are so unnecessary. Provision of relevant documents and working practices does not have to be an expensive exercise, in fact having these documents quite often means you are more likely to win tenders and work, so they can actually make you more money than they cost. As Health and Safety consultants this is what we specialise in.

Don’t take unnecessary risks! For more information on health and safety procedures in the work place, please contact Tom at BritRisk.
